TLC Celebrates Employability Day 2026: More Than One Way Into Work
Employability Day is a national celebration led by ERSA, shining a spotlight on the organisations, employers, partners and communities helping people move towards and into good work across the UK. This year’s theme, “We Get Britain Working,” highlights the role of high-quality employment and skills support in creating real opportunities for people and communities.
At Transform Lives Company, we know there is more than one way to help someone into employment.
For some people, the first step might be updating a CV.
For others, it might be meeting an employer, practising an interview, finding the right course, or simply having a conversation with someone who listens.
That’s why, for Employability Day 2026, we were out in the community doing what TLC does best: bringing people, partners and opportunities together.
Supporting Residents in Speke
We joined residents at Reach in Speke for South Liverpool Homes’ Employability Day community event, working alongside a brilliant range of partners including DWP, recruitment specialists, training providers, Career Connect and Youth Hub.
Our own Rhona Stanway delivered 1-1 CV support on the day, helping residents strengthen their applications and feel more confident about taking their next step.
The event gave people access to:
CV support from TLC
Mock interviews with employers
Careers guidance and advice
Training and recruitment opportunities
Partner support all under one roof
When organisations work together, residents have more routes into employment and more chances to succeed. It means people can explore what’s available, ask questions, build confidence and connect with the right support at the right time.
This kind of collaboration is central to TLC’s approach, whether we are working with partners such as Clean Event and Liverpool Philharmonic to create pathways into work, or alongside housing associations including Plus Dane, South Liverpool Homes and Livv to bring support closer to the communities we serve.
Doing Employability Differently
At TLC, employment support is never one-size-fits-all.
We understand that the end-goal of employment can feel different for every person. Some people are ready to apply straight away. Others need time, encouragement, confidence-building or a trusted relationship before they feel ready to take that step.
That’s why we create spaces where people feel comfortable, welcome and a place to be themselves.
Our community garden opening party at our hub in Kelvin Grove was a perfect example of this.
Instead of a formal jobs fair, we brought local people, employers and partners together in a relaxed environment where conversations could happen naturally. Attendees were able to meet employers, discover opportunities and learn more about the support available through JobsPlus.
Helping to run the event were our Community Champions - local people who found paid employment through spreading the word about JobsPlus in Liverpool 8. Their journey shows exactly what JobsPlus is about: building trust in the community, creating pathways into work, and opening doors through real relationships.
With employers attending who offer guaranteed interviews, one small conversation can become a real opportunity.
That’s What Puts the Plus in JobsPlus
Employability Day was a chance to celebrate the impact of employment support across the country, but for TLC it is also a reminder of why our approach matters.
We don’t just help people search for jobs.
We build relationships.
We earn trust.
We connect people to opportunities.
We work with partners to make support easier to access.
And we meet people where they are.
Because sometimes the first step towards employment isn’t filling in an application, It’s a conversation. And when that conversation happens in the right place, with the right support around it, it can change everything.
That’s how TLC does employability differently.
